artists AND WRITERS
Grazyna Mackiewicz
I love to play with colours and create works that uplift and inspire the spirit. I try to combine what I see of nature’s beauty with my intuitive feelings to create semi-abstract representational works.
Marian Quigley
A national award finalist, Marian works in acrylics, utilising hard edge abstraction. Her subject matter includes city, land and seascapes as well as portraits.
Ricky McLean
Most of my art is a reflection on how I see the world. Trauma, pain, the struggles. They don't just express the physical emotion but also the mental emotion and abuse.
Froney Ward
I have been painting for over thirty years in oil paints. My love of Nature makes me primarily an ‘en plein air’ landscape artist.
Gay Mosby
Living on Phillip Island I love wandering our beautiful beaches, exploring the infinite patterns and textures formed by the gradual eroding of the rocks and driftwood. I love the idea that an object can be turned into a thing of beauty by a process which will eventually reduce it to nothing. These weird and wonderful formations inspire my work. I also enjoy using clay as a blank canvas, exploring various finishes and effects which may be achieved using objects from nature. My pieces are low fired then heated to extreme temperatures in a specially constructed Raku kiln. They are removed while extremely hot and various natural materials are applied, melting into and smoking the surface.
Lana Sebastian
I studied fine art at Caulfield Institute of Technology. However, I have only started to devote my time to drawing and painting since my recent retirement. My work has been influenced by Gustave Klimt, Aubrey Beardsley and Byzantine icons. I often write a poem which becomes the inspiration for a drawing or painting.
Linda Treeby
I enjoy painting with various mediums including pastels, watercolours, and acrylics. I have been an exhibiting member with the Australian Guild of Realist Artists, The Pastel Society, and am currently a member of Arts Society Phillip Island Region. My desire is to capture the beautiful natural light we have here, shadows and reflections in my paintings and also the spontaneity that children bring to a painting. I have had the great opportunity of studying under some well-known artists like Malcolm Beattie, Antoinette Blyth, and Regina Hona. I’ve had the privilege of selling my paintings at various exhibitions in Melbourne and Regional Victoria, and gaining Highly Commended, Commended, and Best in Show for my pastel (under $1,000) painting at The Phillip Island & San Remo Rotary Art Show. I hope you find something within my work that appeals to a place and time in your life.
Miranda Sage
My creative journey began in Central Australia where I was enraptured with the colours of the landscape. For the past thirty years I have lived beside the sea and have spent this time discovering the delights of this rugged coastline and the ever-changing palette of colours it presents. Inspiration, guidance and encouragement has come from fellow members of the Arts Society Phillip Island Region, and from Larapinta Creative Camps with Deb Clarke. The Wave is a collage using cut and torn fragments of my work in inks, oil pastel and Kangaroo Grass paper.
Christine Grayden
Christine Grayden is a writer on Millowl Phillip Island who has collaborated on or written 17 books, a play/screenplay and numerous YouTube videos. Her latest books are children’s picture books, but she writes across many genres, with a blog on the Bass Coast Post. Christine runs a website focused on publicising “Writing in Bass Coast”.

Inspired by the beautiful and changing views of Rhyll which has recently become home, having lived on Phillip Island for most of my life. Focusing on watercolours as my favourite medium and having painted for many years including Porcelain Painting, silk, pastel and photography.
Pip Wilson Green
Pip arrived here from Scotland in 2010 with a strong background in oil painting and special effects makeup. She has since produced numerous works including portraits, landscapes and abstracts.

My growth as a sculptor/citizen is informed by my thoughts and feelings about our social, visual, and tactile world and the human ability to shape it in a thoughtful, sensitive, and above all life-inspiring way. I mainly work in wood because it derives from nature and recalls organic life.
Sheryl Stuart
I have been drawing since I was 6 years old and have had a love of practical art and art history all my life. I work in all mediums depending on the subject matter and take inspiration from my surroundings, which has lead me to travel the world on art painting tours. I have always been part of local art groups where ever I have lived and I now reside on Phillip Island, where I enjoy painting with all the friends I have made through ASPIR.
JOSEPH LA PIRA
Joseph is a portrait and figurative artist using an unusual oil paint application technique that gives rise to creative visual textures, which are then delicately intertwined into the human form and expression. His paintings are exquisitely crafted and convey a sense of beauty and design.
Jan Lowe
I am a Contemporary Realist Artist, a signatory artist with the Australian Guild of Realist Artists, working with scratchboard, watercolour on claybord, oil, and pastel. I work full-time as a professional artist/tutor. My focus is mainly animals; however, I draw most subjects including our beautiful nature, subjects that I find interesting and memorable. You are welcome to visit my website to view my artworks and CV.
Amanda Robbins
I enjoy experimenting and trying out a range of materials to see what I can do with them, including wood and pyrography, the newest challenge! This piece, 'Wind', was based on my daughter walking her dog. It is made from mulched paper which I have cast in a plaster mould before turning out and mounting on a piece of timber.
Stacey Shine
Inspired by the colours, patterns, and textures surrounding me in my stunning coastal studio, my greatest joy comes from encouraging others to enjoy the creative process. As an art teacher and disability support worker, I integrate art, creativity, and sustainability into my daily life. I love experimenting with various mediums and up-cycling or repurposing anything & everything. With music setting the mood and dancing while I create, I usually use my fingers rather than brushes and literally throw myself into my paintings. My latest work, Mask at Sea, won first prize at Meenyin Art Gallery Rising Tide exhibition. Judges commented that through the evocative use of materials like resin and face masks, this artwork pushes boundaries and raises the bar, eliciting a profound response. Inspiration for this work came after spending months visiting my Dad in hospital, wearing a fresh mask disposable mask each day. I decided I'd rather see my discarded masks end up on a canvas rather than wreaking havoc in the ocean. The use of masks and other discarded materials have added a whole new dimension and interesting textures to my work.

Josephine Kent
(JOSEPHINE ALLEN)
Josephine is a figurative artist who has a passion for drawing the patterns in nature and allegory. She has been exhibiting since 1985. However, the greater love for her is drawing from the mind, from inspiration, following the thread and watching the stories unfold.
